Debbie Ohala-Bastres: Co-owner, Master Colorist & Stylist

Debbie Ohala-Bastres was born in Denver, but grew up in Massachusetts, and returned to Colorado after the birth of her first child. She now lives in nearby Erie with her husband and her three children.

Debbie graduated with a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and began her hairstyling career as a means to put herself through college. She has worked for more than 26 years as a hairstylist and, along with Marcella, became a partner in and co-owner of Colorado Hair in May 2008.

Debbie uses Alfa Parf, a line of hair color from Italy. Her art background has proved to be an invaluable asset during her hairstyling career, and she continues to rely on the principles of color and design while fulfilling her clients’ wishes. She is passionate about her creative efforts, and is grateful to be able to work at something she loves.

Marcella Thomas Dykes: Co-owner, Master Colorist & Stylist

Marcella Dykes is a Colorado native, and commutes each day from Golden, where she lives with her husband and her two young sons. She graduated from Boulder Votech in 1982. Marcella has worked in the Boulder area as a hair stylist for more than 28 years. In her efforts to achieve optimum color results, she uses Framesi, an Italian line of color, which she considers to be a superior product.

In May 2008, Marcella began a partnership with Debbie Ohala-Bastres in a new joint business venture: Colorado Hair. Marcella continues to share her passion for and her vast knowledge of the hair industry as well as her great sense of humor and her ready smile with everyone she meets.
